Monday, February 10, 2014 – In 2014, St. Petersburg firm Foelgner, Ronz & Straw (FRSCPA) celebrates 30 years of service in the field of public accounting. FRSCPA provides outstanding accounting, audit, tax, and consulting services to its client base that includes architects, engineers, attorneys, physicians, surgeons, dentists, not-for-profit agencies, hospitality, and franchises, including McDonald’s® franchise owner/operators. Over the past 30 years, the partners and firm have established an enviable reputation of delivering superior client service, and high-quality work.
Co-founding partners, Ronald A. Ronz, CPA, CVA, CFF, and Cal O. Foelgner, CPA recall leaving the firm where they were employed together in order to start their own business venture, originally called Foelgner & Ronz, P.A. Mr. Ronz recalls, “It was a very big leap of faith for Cal & I, but we were determined to make our business a success.” Several loyal clients followed the partners to their new venture, which helped to sustain them through those early years. Ron and Cal’s philosophy on client service served them well, as the firm has sustained consistent annual growth since inception.
Currently, FRSCPA has five partners and 35 staff members, with offices in St. Petersburg and Tampa, Florida, and Durham, North Carolina. Over 30% of the firm’s employees have been with the firm for more than 15 years. In 1985, Claudia A. Straw, CPA joined the firm and became Managing Partner in 1992. On January 1, 2013, the firm expanded its ownership with additional partners, Martha W. Ford, CPA, Joan M. Gibbons, CPA, and Paul Horowitz, CPA.
An important aspect of the firm’s long-term plan has always been to incorporate community involvement in the firm’s culture. “We are proud of our contributions to the community, and we have been fortunate that the firm’s success has enabled us to continually support many charities like Ronald McDonald House Charities and local schools over the past 30 years,” said Mr. Ronz. “We believe in giving both our time and our treasure. In additional to financial support, we encourage volunteer service by my partners and staff, who willingly serve on boards and/or donate their time to support their chosen cause.”
