In a 20 page decision U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant ruled that several State Attorneys General and over 50 business groups that sued to block the rule that was scheduled to become effective December 1, 2016 stood a significant chance of success and therefore delayed the implementation of the Department of Labor’s rule requiring overtime for more than 4 million new workers.
Although further legal wrangling is expected, no resolution is expected before the inauguration when President Elect Trump can undo President Obama’s executive order.
It appears the order won’t become effective anytime soon, if at all!
